A Little Bit of Everything... |
 |

Every Monday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the Christian Writer's
Group of Greater San Antonio meets in the Faith Building of First
Baptist Church of Universal City. This group has been
existence since 1998 and was a vision of Vikki Walton. She
originally began the writing group in her home and then was given a
room at the church for the meetings. When Vikki moved to
Colorado, Joy Dunlop took over the leadership. She, too, was
called to another location and currently resides in Washington, DC.
Now, for the past five years, Allison Pittman and I have served as
leadership for the group. |

In August of 1998, I was driving to
visit my legally blind friend, Judy St. Clair, on the south side of
town, when the Lord laid on my heart that I was going to have a party.
By the time I reached her home, I had scribbled all the names of ladies
I was to invite to the first Sisters in Christ
party for Jesus. Mostly, I knew I was to keep it to a one-time a month
fellowship where women could share their hearts and learn more about Him
at the same time. It began on the first Tuesday of the month and still
takes place on the first Tuesday of every month from 6:45 p.m. to 8:30
p.m.

Texas
Authors Speak was formed on September 30, 2006,
when a group of author/speakers got together at Flat Creek Estate vineyard
west of Austin for a day of networking and discussion. Joyce Brooks (a
travel writer) and Anne Isham (a chocolate-lover writer) had the vision for
this group and urged attendees to work together to make it easier for event
organizers to find and schedule a speaker.
The initial two dozen authors agreed to form an organization and launch a
website. At this meeting, Allison Pittman and Brenda Blanchard were
voted as the co-presidents for the group, along with Rita Mills and Sandy
Lawrence as other leadership.
